Ubuntu-Eg 10.04 Release Party

Yesterday, Ubuntu-Eg held a party in Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University to celebrate the new release of Ubuntu ; Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Ubuntu-Eg is a community of volunteers who are seeking to promote the Ubuntu distribution and the Free Software ideals in Egypt, also aim to provide a ground for Egyptian Ubuntu users to cooperate, help each other, and spread the distribution further.

The event composed of sessions worked in parallel from 10 am to 5 pm, they talked about different topics but all under the OpenSource concept, there were sessions about general introduction to the Opensource softwares culture, how to install Ubuntu, Software alternatives ( Ubuntu vs Windows ) , Drupal, Joomla, Inkscape, Blender and Desktop programming using QT. Each session ends then starts over again till 5 pm.

Most of the attendees were students from faculty of Engineering, faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Computer Science and few from Faculty of commerce and others.

Some of the attendees were interested to know and ask about the Opensource softwares and Ubuntu to the extent that it was 5pm, they didn't leave and kept asking the volunteers, other attendees came to register to take only the CD and leave without knowing or even asking about what is the OpenSource :D.

Eventually, I'd like to thank all who came and hope he/she spreads the OpenSource concept and what he/she has learned, also I'd like to thank all the volunteers who did a great job and special thanks to the event
sponsers; Ofok and CECE.

Thanks for stopping by and this is my gift to you :)
